RubyConf AU wouldn’t be the same without a full suite of social events to get us all better acquainted!
Wednesday 10 April - Welcome and pre-registration! 5pm-7pm
Before we get into conference mode, let’s get together for a casual drink, a bite to eat and pre-register (so you don’t need to do it in the morning!) at James Squire’s; The Squire Landing.
From 5pm - 7pm we will provide finger food with drinks at bar prices and pre-registration. After this you are welcome to go elsewhere or stay on for a meal, drinks or just great conversations. The Squire’s Landing - Northern end of the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay W, The Rocks.
Join in on our Women and Non Binary Meet Up on Wednesday 10 April at 7pm; Meet at The Squires Landing before 7pm and walk together to Artsicle for a popsicle and chat.
Thursday 11 April - Manly Adventure! 6pm - 9pm
This year we will be heading out on the Manly Ferry on our first night of conferencing (Thursday 11 April) for a cocktail party at the Wharf Bar in Manly.
After a full day of conferencing, get down to Jetty 6 in Circular Quay by 6pm to board the Rocket Annabelle Rankin directly to Manly. Circular Quay is about a 20 min walk from Swissôtel or you can take the light rail along George St.
On the water we will pass the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.
Once in Manly, just a few steps from the Jetty is Manly Wharf Bar where a finger food dinner will be waiting and a few drinks - additional drinks available at bar prices.
At 9pm get down to the boat to head back into Circular Quay by 9.30pm (or make your own way).
If you miss the ferry, there are a number of ways to get to and from Wharf Bar - The Manly Ferry operates every 10 mins from Circular Quay Wharf 2 and will cost approx $10 and take 30-40 mins. A taxi or Uber will take approx 20-30 mins from Swissôtel and cost approx $50-$60. A bus is also available but will require multiple transfers. Public transport trip planner
Friday 12 April - Hanging Garden of Babylon! 5.30pm-8.30pm
While on our final night (Friday 12 April), we’ll be at Babylon Bar just a short walk from the conference for a cocktail party in their Hanging Garden; closing the conference in a relaxed and social environment!
There, you will have a finger food dinner provided and your first couple of drinks with additional drinks available at bar prices over looking the Sydney CBD.
